What's been happening with the Beattys

We are finally settling into our new home here in Far Rockaway, New York in a new community called Arverne By the Sea. We are thoroughly enjoying Norm's three week break and soaking up every second with him. Up to this point every move we've made, he's immediately gone to work the following Monday. So to have his help has been so wonderful and has saved me from having multiple breakdowns. 

Did I mention we live right on the beach? I can't wait for the summer!

We walk 2 blocks from our house and see this. Norm is already working on fitting a surfboard into the student loan budget. He's anxious to get back to his Florida roots and start surfing again.

 One of Norm jrs recent accomplishments is learning how to dribble. Norm had been working with him and one day it just clicked! He of course, thinks he is the coolest thing and wants to dribble constantly. I feel bad for the people living below us.

 He has also mastered the fire poll at the playground. Up to this point he's always been a little timid (I wonder where he get's that from)

This is a daily routine of ours. Isn't it beautiful? Wind in my face, pushing the stroller, watching Normie effortlessly ride his bike down the boardwalk to the park has been our favorite activity to do in the evenings. We are working on taking the training wheels off but remember that little timid part??

This is our view of the sunset on the balcony between the two buildings. Not too bad. It almost reminds me of Dominica, minus the heat and bugs, no a/c, no grocery stores, no cars...

And Dr. Norm...

Norm starts at St. Johns Episcopal hospital on the 23rd to complete his OB/GYN core for 6 weeks. Then right after he will do a 3 week elective in Emergency medicine, (thanks to the schedules of these two rotations, I plan on never seeing my husband) followed by a Psychiatry core lasting 6 weeks. Then he will travel to Long Island to South Nassau to rotate through a Family Medicine elective for 6 weeks. After that, he may take some time off to study for Step 2 which is another board licensing exam. They only offer it in 5 cities, one being Atlanta. Get ready Georiga Beatty's we are coming for a visit. Even better, maybe we can stretch it for trip to Florida?!?

At that point Norm will have completed 49 weeks out of the required 78 weeks of rotations through RossU. What an accomplishment! We are so proud of him for all his hard work and effort he puts in. Once we get to the point he'll only have about 7 months left of medical school! Does anyone else feel like this journey is never ending??

And the kids and I...

are excited about summer and all the possibilities it brings.
